A journey of discovery through one of the world’s last communist countries. North Korea, seen through the eyes of a young woman from Antwerp of Korean origin. Having become a Belgian by adoption, she wanted to return to her native country, even though she does not speak the language. A stereotypical view of daily life in Korea? The director set out to meet the men and women there. Wherever nature thrives and people live, there are always sounds to break the silence, even in the ‘Land of Morning Calm’. Thanks to Mi Kyong, the translator whose role is redefined to become the film’s central character, we are introduced to daily life in this country at the edge of the world, which has been living through an experience for over 50 years
