Jacques Debs

French-Lebanese filmmaker
Jacques Debs is a Lebanese director, screenwriter, and producer based in France. His career is marked by a relentless quest for Christian roots and minority cultures around the world. A filmmaker of the long haul and of wandering, he travels through the territories of the former Soviet Union, the Middle East, and Central Europe to film faces and landscapes steeped in history. His documentary films are distinguished by their striking visual poetry and a narrative often akin to a philosophical travelogue.
He continues to cast a humanist gaze on the fractured zones of the contemporary world, always seeking what connects people beyond dogma.
