Belgian filmmaker

Sophie Bruneau is a Belgian filmmaker and anthropologist by training (EHESS). She has been (co-)directing documentary films since 1993, often in collaboration with Marc-Antoine Roudil.

Her cinematic approach is characterized by a desire to deconstruct preconceived ideas through patient observation of reality. A lecturer at INSAS since 2008, she also co-founded her own production and distribution company in Brussels, Alter Ego Films.

She lives and works in Brussels, where she continues to develop documentary projects and sound pieces for radio.
