Belgian filmmaker
Volkan Üce was born in 1981 in Antwerp. Before turning to filmmaking, he pursued a solid academic path, earning a master's degree in political and social sciences from the University of Antwerp, where he also worked as a researcher. A self-taught filmmaker, he chose to abandon his doctoral studies to dedicate himself to directing. His films are characterized by a desire to move beyond mere exotic narratives, subtly confronting viewers with their own reflections on belonging.
He lives and works primarily in Antwerp, while also leading international co-production projects involving Turkey, France, and Germany.
