In the eyes of a beast

This film, structured as a series of variations, explores the boundary between Western humans and animals. Dominique Loreau met with people and animals who coexist in farms, in an ethologist's field, in slaughterhouses, zoos and museums, in a city, in a dance rehearsal room, and during a performance by an actor transforming into an animal. She films the way animals look at humans and the way humans look at animals. Then she films the animals' glances, sometimes fleeting, at her. These glances open onto other, enigmatic worlds and prove that the boundary separating us is indeed permeable…
