Belgian filmmaker
Dominique Loreau is a Belgian director, writer and teacher born in Brussels in 1955. Trained at INSAS in directing and editing, she has been developing a unique cinematic oeuvre since the 1980s, situated at the border between fiction and documentary. Her films — including Les noms n'habitent nulle part (1994), Divine Carcasse (1998), Au gré du temps (2006) and Dans le regard d'une bête (2012) — often explore philosophical, social and human questions, giving significant importance to improvisation, chance and encounters.
Alongside her work as a filmmaker, she taught screenwriting and film analysis at the Université Libre de Bruxelles for over thirty years and also pursues literary and photographic writing.
