Awara soup

1996
Awara broth is a type of stew made with awara oil—the fruit of a palm tree common in French Guiana—that Creoles prepare on Easter Monday. Preparing this dish provides an opportunity to meet the inhabitants of Mana, a small town of 1,500 people where a dozen languages are spoken.
