Nostalgia for the Future is a film based on the life and work of Chris Marker.

A documentary-essay on memory, history, nostalgia and how images of the past shape our future. A fictional archivist (Christine De Proost) attempts to determine whether we can form a picture of a person from the work they have left behind. Gradually, the very essence of archives, as the repository of our collective memory, is called into question.
