Brecht Debackere

Belgian filmmaker
Brecht Debackere is a Belgian filmmaker and audiovisual artist whose work explores the points of contact between visual media, technology, and cultural memory.
Trained in audiovisual arts (Master's degree from LUCA School of Arts / Sint-Lukas Brussels), he has been developing a practice since the mid-1990s that spans fiction, animation, and digital art. Co-founder of the Brussels-based production company Visualantics, he is particularly interested in conceptual systems and 3D computer-generated imagery to question our perception of space, whether physical or virtual. His approach often blends theoretical research with formal experimentation.
His work has been presented at prestigious institutions and events such as the Stedelijk Museum CS in Amsterdam and the Docville festival.
He continues to explore new narrative forms at the intersection of digital sustainability and resilient media.
