To the sea
"Towards the Sea" is a journey across Europe, a passage beyond political borders, a path connecting East and West, an epic voyage to the sea. The film begins in the landscapes of the Black Forest and ends on the shores of the Black Sea. Between these two extremes, the film offers encounters and stories with people and landscapes from Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Bulgaria, and Romania. It is said that going east is going towards the sun, therefore towards the light... This film is not experienced as an adventure, but rather as an experience in time, an opportunity to gather information, to collect what is disappearing, and also to record the events of the present. Is the river merely a pretext for something else? The Danube juxtaposes the timelessness of its course with the temporality of the characters. May this film reflect the small and great stories of life beyond the diversity of countries and populations crossed by this river.
