Portuguese filmmaker

Francisco Manso was born on November 28, 1949, in Lisbon.

After studying law, he turned to filmmaking and trained at ARCO and RTP in the late 1970s. A key figure in Portuguese cinema, he is recognized for his anthropological and historical documentary work, as well as for his fiction films exploring prominent figures in Lusophone culture.

He remains very active in producing series and feature films, with recent projects such as Abandonados (2022-2023).
