Belgian filmmaker

Frederik Jan Depickere was born in 1983 in Torhout, Belgium. After studying art history and archaeology at Ghent University, he trained in documentary filmmaking at the LUCA School of Arts (Sint-Lukas) in Brussels.

His films are renowned for their ability to forge close connections with strangers and transform life stories into contemplative "personal landscapes." Often blurring the lines between myth and reality, he places great importance on sound experimentation to portray anti-heroes.

He lives and works primarily in Brussels, where he continues to develop documentary projects with an international scope.
