Gérard Preszow

Belgian filmmaker
Gérard Preszow was born in 1954 in Watermael-Boitsfort (Brussels). A graduate in Romance philology from the ULB (Université Libre de Bruxelles), his career is marked by a rare versatility: he directed the literary journal Revue et Corrigée, was a film critic for the magazine Visions, and developed a passion for outsider art, becoming director of the Art en marge gallery. He honed his filmmaking skills as Boris Lehman's assistant (on Portrait of the Painter in His Studio in 1985). His work, often blurring the lines between the social and the personal, uses the camera as a tool for encounter and exploration. He is also very active in sound fiction and radio documentaries, continuing his research on voice and narrative.
