Isabelle Dierckx

Belgian Filmmaker
Isabelle Dierckx (born 1966) is a writer and filmmaker. Her works blend real and imaginary worlds, intimate and social realities. Her work is marked by her special connection to various territories, including the Canary Islands.
After experience in puppet theater, she published in 2001 a book on Canary Islands cinema, Cine Canario, un espacio abierto. In this book, she highlights some unique aspects of these films, which come from a singular culture at the crossroads of several continents.
She co-wrote several documentary scripts for the production company La Mirada, including El último arquero (2019), a feature film by Dácil de Lara Manrique Millares. Currently, she is preparing a documentary and a book in collaboration with philosopher Bruno Tackels: But Isabelle, You Think Like a Negro! This project, supported in writing by the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, explores her family’s connections to the North-East of Congo, where her mother was born and raised.
