João Correa

Portuguese filmmaker
João Correa was born on April 9, 1943, in Leiria, Portugal. His life has been marked by political activism since his youth: at 18, he was expelled from the University of Lisbon for participating in a student revolt against the Salazar regime.
He fled Portugal and settled in Belgium in 1963, where he became a naturalized citizen. His film career, spanning over 40 years, has led him to direct and co-direct numerous documentaries and feature films, often reflecting the social and historical realities of his two countries.
He remains active as an independent writer and producer, regularly speaking at conferences and special screenings throughout Europe.
