Ulrike Knorr

German filmmaker
Ulrike Knorr was born in 1978 in Dresden, Germany (formerly East Germany). She attended secondary school at the Romain Rolland Gymnasium in Dresden before turning to filmmaking. Her work is characterized by an aesthetic approach in which photography plays a central role, favoring graphic shots and a respectful approach to her subjects. She settled in Belgium to develop several of her documentary projects, regularly collaborating with Brussels institutions such as the CBA and Cobra Films. Her films explore memory, identity, and the traces of German history through personal narratives or symbolic places.
