Marie-France Collard

Belgian filmmaker

Marie-France Collard began her career as an editor in Belgium and France, before working in production for the RTBF program Carré Noir. Since 1992, she has been a central figure in Groupov, a Liège-based artists' collective that defines itself as a "Center for Active Culture." Her cinematic work, primarily documentary, is distinguished by its direct confrontation with reality and the mechanisms of global oppression. She has collaborated several times with Cobra Films on its large-scale international projects. Her films explore the themes of resistance, labor, and the consequences of conflict. In recognition of her career and artistic integrity, she received the Scam Documentary Prize in 2018 for her body of work. She remains active within Groupov, blending theatrical and cinematic creation to examine the darker aspects of our time.
